I am Donavie Laney-owner and operator of Donavie’s Delectables LLC. We are a small, family cottage food operation, licensed to bake and sell from home.
We are Whisk Takers and Dream Makers, here to serve all of your delectable needs with custom cookies, cakes, nuts and more, specializing in our baby Bundt cakes!
A little bit about us…
Owner, Donavie Laney, moved to Ellijay in 1997 and has been here ever since. She started baking at the age of 15, and had dreams of pursuing a career as a pastry chef after completing high school, but was unable to do so due to family health issues.
She immediately got into the work force and followed in her parents footsteps by going into public Safety as a Gilmer County 911 Dispatcher. She has worked for the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office since 2005 and that is where she met her spouse, James Knight, co-owner of the business.
After years of baking for friends and family, she finally decided to give her dream a real chance and created the business. Using friends, family, and co-workers as Guinea pigs to test all of her creations, she launched her business in late 2020.
Primarily through word of mouth advertising, what started as a side hustle has become more of a full time gig and as of May 2022, the business has joined the Ellijay Farmers and Artisan Market and is looking to grow to new levels. They have hopes of being able to open up a “brick and mortar” bakery to serve the delectable needs of the community by bringing new and exciting baked goods to life.
